Dr. Liu has over 40 years of experience (1985–2025) in research, teaching, and clinical practice within natural medicine, primarily Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), across China, Germany, and the United States. She integrates both traditional and modern knowledge of diagnosis, pathology, pharmacology, and nutrition into her treatments, which include acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, cupping, bloodletting, and dietary therapy. Through these methods, she has helped patients find relief from a wide range of ailments.

    Invited by John Wiley & Sons, she served as the editor and principal author of Traditional Herbal Medicine Research Methods—the world's only comprehensive guide to modern research methodologies for traditional herbal medicine. The work encompasses botany, chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, and clinical studies.

    As a distinguished Chinese scholar abroad, Dr. Liu was featured in a 2011 episode of the renowned CCTV-4 program Chinese Stories, titled “The Persistent Researcher of Chinese Medicine.” She was also recognized as an Outstanding Overseas Alumna and was profiled in The Alumni of Shenyang Pharmaceutical University under the headline “Dr. Liu Studies and Promotes Chinese Medicine in Germany and the United States.” 

    Throughout her career, Dr. Liu has been trained by and collaborated with several world-renowned experts in natural products, including Professors Xinsheng Yao, Rudolf Bauer, Koji Nakanishi, and Norman Farnsworth.
